About A.L. Cortez

Hi there, I'm Alyssa-- the creative mind behind A.L. Cortez! I worked in the NYC fashion industry for several years, designing clothing for brands like Nike and Walmart. After seeing firsthand how wasteful and unethical corporate fashion brands are, I realized that I wanted my work to be the exact opposite of that.

Fashion is a very personal thing, but over time, we've become further and further removed from how our clothes are made and the people that make them. I want to change that! Combining my longtime love of sewing and design with my desire to connect with the people who wear my clothes are what makes A.L. Cortez

    Every A.L. Cortez piece is handmade or upcycled locally in San Antonio, TX. Everything from patternmaking, cutting, sewing, modeling, marketing and packing orders is done by one human.... with a little help from a very talented photographer husband ;)

    Reducing fashion's impact on the planet is at the heart of each garment. Using raw materials that already exist is a great way to keep textiles out of landfill-- all A.L. Cortez fabric is acquired from secondhand, deadstock, or vintage sources.

    All bodies are beautiful, and you are more than a size label! A.L. Cortez seeks to empower people of all body types with an extended size range and measurement customizations on most made-to-order items.
